HELLO, good evening and welcome to Octopus's Garden, the subzeen with its very own Railway Rivals game. It's a subzeen to Jim Burgess' The Abbysinian Prince. Produced by Peter Sullivan, peter@burdonvale.co.uk. It's also available on the web at http://www.burdonvale.co.uk/octopus/.
Perched between the two ends of the scale of the fully-fledged games convention and the weekend house-con sits the one-day games event. I've been involved in several of these over the years, including what is, as far as I'm aware, the only Diplomacy event to have ever been held in Sunderland, the 1993 Suncon organised by Toby Harris. (The fact that this was almost 20 years ago now is somewhat incredible to me, but the calendar never lies.)
Continuing in this tradition is Evesham Games Day 2011, scheduled for 13th August at Evesham Town Hall. It's been put together by Mark Stretch, and will feature, alongside the traditional "open gaming," a two-round Diplomacy tournament from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Entry fee is £5, and refreshments (tea, coffee, plus a licensed bar) are all available on site.
More details, including trave; and parking options, are available on the website at http://www.ukf2fdip.org/Ad Hoc/Evesham 202011.html.
GENEVA:Note that LOSER still pays the full 23, but RENAISSANCE only
gets the maximum 15. This plays holy hell with the principles of double-entry
book-keeping, but is in line with postal rule X12.
Rolls for Round Four: 2 - 6 - 6.
The deadline for Round Three orders is SATURDAY, 4th JUNE, 2011
to Peter Sullivan,

PRESS:
FWOGGIE: This game suddenly got more difficult... after all, it's not easy being green.
That was Octopus's Garden #71, A Startling Press production.
