Colophon

HELLO, good evening and welcome to issue 38 of Octopus's Garden, the subzeen with its very own second-gamestart-in-24-hours. Of course, with electronic publishing, we laugh at the demon of transit times and kick sand in the face of scheduling... An html version of this subzeen is available on the Web at http://www.manorcon.demon.co.uk/octopus/index.html. It's also sent to the TAP mailing list, which you can join automatically by sending the message 'subscribe tap' to majordomo@igo.org. The message 'unsubscribe tap' sent to the same address will get you off the mailing list.

WAITING LIST/GAME OPENING

Houserules are on the web at http://www.manorcon.demon.co.uk/octopus/rr.html, but are pretty much standard British rules (20/10 scoring, enter 4 from 7 races), except I use stand-bys. We won't bother with gamefees or deposits for either of these games.

I note that this is the first issue of Octopus's Garden since number 6, back in July 1995, to have more than one game running at once.

pre-Round 1 -- "William Rufus de Vane King"

Railway Rivals Map TT (Leapfrog)

Just a reminder that the deadline for Round One orders is FRIDAY, 16th JULY, 1999 to Peter Sullivan, octopus@manorcon.demon.co.uk

Round 0 -- "John C. Breckinridge"

Railway Rivals Map TK

The players : Mike Barno, Berry Renken, Neil Hopkins, Richard Weiss, Andrew Glynn.

Berry and Richard already have their maps ; Mike, Neil and Andrew should have theirs in a week or so. Please e-mail me as soon as they arrive to let me know. Once we are all map-equipped, you will all need to let me have set-up orders - company name, colour preferences and start town preferences. (I already have these from Richard.) The map rubric says "5 or more - start any town you like," so that is what we shall do, with the proviso that I will not start two of you from the same place. Assuming no major snail-mail delays on the maps, the deadline for set-up orders is FRIDAY, 16th JULY, 1999 to Peter Sullivan, octopus@manorcon.demon.co.uk
